Congratulations on another completion and the motivation to do it again! You deserve the admiration of all your readers. But perhaps the joy on the trail and the beauty of nature is more than enough to keep you returning to the wilderness. 👏👏👏💕

I certainly don't hike for my readers 🤣! Being out there with nature is the draw; carrying the pack is the only drawback.

Beautiful journey. Inward and outward. :)

When we were doing the PCT sections in Southern California, there were trail angels putting out water caches, but not always where we needed them--in part because we couldn't hike 20-miles days. So, my husband drove down to the sections we were gong to do the following week and dug a place to cache water we could pick up enroute. I don't think we could have made it otherwise--as it was, he had to carry huge amounts of water for us.

Yes, as we age we can't do the distances any longer that the younger ones can do. I remember my 18 mile hikes between water sources, did it in a day without trouble.

Dear Dami,

I'm glad you are listening to your body: resting, drinking as the need arises. Yes, the first day is always the hardest!

What desert did you hike? And, how good to think of migrants and their travails, probably less prepared than you for the hardships of desert travel.

Love you,

Laurie
